Join us for the third-annual Beloved Community Reception

Gather together in community with other St. Andrew’s  families over dinner and conversation on September 8th from 6 PM - 7:30 PM  on our Southwest Parkway Campus.
Dear Highlander Families,

Just when you thought the dust was beginning to settle on summer, here we are — not even a fortnight into the school year — kicking it up again! Teachers are fist-bumping students as they file into their classrooms, students are fist-bumping each other on their way to the practice fields, and word on the street is that even our rival schools are filled with excitement about the opportunity to compete (and bump fists, that too) in our new Athletics Complex & Student Union on on our Southwest Parkway Campus.

But these aren’t the only exciting and eventful things that are taking place on campus, because just over a week from today St. Andrew’s will be hosting its third annual Beloved Community Reception.

By way of background, this cherished school-wide event is for all SAS families who regard the ideals of community, diversity, and belonging as being vital to the holistic development of their students. For those who would consider it a loss if we did not teach our students how to engage with narratives that are different from their own, or how to strengthen the ties that bind where our narratives merge.

In terms of logistics, here are a few things about the event that we would like to highlight:

1. Beloved Community Reception:

The dinner will take place on September 8th from 6 PM - 7:30 PM in the lobby of the Dell Fine Arts Center at our Southwest Parkway Campus. Please RSVP by Wednesday, September 3rd, so our caterer can plan accordingly.

2. Childcare:

In the event you need childcare but are unable to secure it, a few upper school students from the Actualizing Beloved Community (ABC) student council will be on hand to provide supervision for any young Highlanders that accompany you.

As always, our sincerest thanks in advance for your thoughtful consideration of this invitation. The St. Andrew's faculty, staff, and administration are looking forward to catching up with you soon! Until then, please feel free to reach out to the Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging (DEIB) team, Kendall Evans at kevans@sasaustin.org or Priya Kenny at pkenny@sasaustin.org if you have questions about the intersection of DEIB and this noble educational journey that we have embarked on together.

Yours respectfully,
