A Whole Child Education is one of the guiding principles at St. Andrew's. Students benefit from programs like Mindfulness, Social Emotional Learning, Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging, and so many more!
From the forests of the Pacific Northwest to the Austrian Alps, a medical clinic in Athens, and a classroom in Chiang Mai, summer 2027 offers St. Andrew’s students four ways to learn outside the classroom.
Pacific Northwest (Middle School)
Where: Seattle, Olympic Peninsula, Olympic National Park, Mount Rainier National Park
When: June 3 - 8, 2027
Who: Classes of 2031, 2032 and 2033 are eligible to attend
What: Get ready for an adventure through giant forests, rugged beaches, waterfalls, and wild trails! We’ll begin our trip in Seattle, with local sites and museums. Moving west, we’ll explore the Olympic Peninsula on land through Olympic National Park, by water on kayaks, and get a glimpse of the magnificent Orca and Humpback Whales on the Puget Sound with a professional Whale Tour. Our group will visit Mt. Rainier National Park for a day of hiking among the early wildflowers. Will we spot Sasquatch? Only one way to find out!
Who: Classes of 2028, 2029, 2030, 2031 are eligible to register
What: A unique adventure exploring Austria from new heights. Our group will explore historical city sites and acclimate before heading out to the Zillertal Alps trail system, where we’ll hike through the Tyrolean mountains into Italy and back. Our lodging will be various historic and modern alpine huts that not only give us a warm place to sleep, but also allow us to enjoy authentic local cuisine and unbelievable views. This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, so don’t miss out!
Greece Summer Medical Academy with Global Brigades (Upper School)
Where: Athens, Greece
When: July 18 - 27, 2027
Who: Classes of 2028, 2029, and 2030 are eligible to register
What: A medical service program that pairs students with experienced Greek doctors so that refugees who otherwise would fail to receive care are seen, evaluated, and treated. During the clinic, students will gain 30+ hours of documented medical service hours assisting with triage, shadowing physicians, providing education workshops, helping to distribute medicine in the pharmacy, and helping to build the capacity of community health workers on chronic illness screening techniques. This trip is a must for any student interested in global issues, service learning, and cultural competency. In terms of enrichment activities, students will get to visit the Parthenon, enjoy a boat tour of three Greek islands, learn how to cook an authentic Greek meal, and more.
*Note: The aforementioned enrichment activities require a minimum of 12 registered students. If fewer than this number sign up, the SAS cohort will participate in a 7-day program (at a lower cost) that includes a visit to the Parthenon but not the island boat tour.
