The boys basketball program at St. Andrew’s begins in 5th grade and culminates with the Varsity program.
In 5th - 8th grade, teams participate within the Austin Inter-Parochial League (AIPL). In the Upper School, there are three teams: JV2, JV, and Varsity, the latter of which competes in the Southwest Preparatory Conference (SPC).
Due to the number of interested players in the Upper School, there historically are cuts made to form those teams.
The Upper School teams play against mostly 6A and 5A public schools in non-conference play, as well as some private schools. The SPC has historically been a very competitive basketball conference, with 4 alumni having gone on to play in the NBA.
In 2012, St. Andrew’s took 4th place in the SPC Division I Tournament, which was the best finish in school history. The following year, the program won the school’s first-ever Division II Championship in boys basketball.
